You mean a mod to allow player ships to use beam weapons? I don't think anyone has ever released one but it's pretty easy to do it yourself from what I understand.

Umm, around here i once downloaded a modified mission where you defend the knossos being able to fly a deimos. With the deimos you could turn your beams on and off, target whatever the hell you wanted to with any and all of your weapons(except that the slashers would only target ships bigger than fighters). And using you're own beams is sweet. I found that mod here on the hlp. Just got to look around.

it's so easy to do, you just make the Deimos player-flyable and let turret AI do the rest.

I remember I made a cargo conainer player flyable once....

Oh, no ****ing problem. I mean, it's in featured mods as if it's really hard to find. I mean it might be so hard you might be too lazy to find it yourself

That was cool! Is there any other mission like that? But one that let's you control the beam canons?

This one lets you control the beam cannons, but the thing is, you can turn them on and off. After that with the deimos it's all about targeting waht you want to shoot, after that the deimos turret ai takes over.
