I tried particles, but they wouldn't render, and yes, Thunder, the background is kinda paired... blame Glitteratto, hehe.  But Have I improved?

The beams still look like they're just cutting into the Deimos, not actually blasting through it.

IO haven't figured out how to make particle blasts yet...TS is confusing, and version 5 is the most.

Definitely looking better dude, yes the stars are still paired but I know that it's a ***** to sort out and you already know about it so nevermind  

The pic is definitely improved! although you still need a bigger more defined explosion really ripping through that Deimos, as it is the beams seem to "start" again when they pass through. Now I know what the metalic feature on TS is I think it looks very nifty, keep that up, and the lasers from the Herc are also top notch (though a little long?).

Finally, and this is just from a story point of view, would the Herc be nearer the Sobek or the Deimos? at that range I can't help but think it'd be under flak fire, but again this ones up to you - great work on the renders dude, your definitely doing much better!

I am going to keep working on this one.

Does anyone know of a way to get flak effects in TS? I'll probably have to make a texture the has a bunch of bursts on it, and put it transparent over a plane? I honestly didn't think of the flak of laser turrets. They completely slipped my mind...

for me, the herc is on our side of the Deimos (coz after all, in external view, a deimos is massive) and very far from the sobek.
For the explosion, add a lot of glows like the on you have already, and it would make the effect you want
