The hacksaw one made me think. Six minutes and no-one gave a damn.

Is the police response time in NYC under six minutes?

It's not the police, the pedestrians simply ignored it.

Better off calling the cops.

The thing is, there was a cop van going by the bike thief while he was pounding the lock with the hammer and spike. They didn't bother with the thief but warned the cameraman about being in the way of traffic. Maybe the cops won't be of much use. :p

Science alone of all the subjects contains within itself the lesson of the danger of belief in the infallibility of the greatest teachers in the preceding generation . . .Learn from science that you must doubt the experts. As a matter of fact, I can also define science another way: Science is the belief in the ignorance of experts. - Richard Feynman

perhaps the presance of the camera man made people think it wasnt a real theft and think it was for one of those stupid videos that pop up on the net :D

How could they have possibly know that the theft was a sham? (Is sham a good word to use in this context anyway?)
