Look I ain't saying and never was saying the array looked bad but it seems the community is opposed to Flash. Now if there is one thing on the net I don't see enough of, its flash. Static websites overall are very dull unless art or graphics are integrated into the site properly. I just don't see why flash is bad, I use it and my site is coming along fine. I think people are not learning enough around here!

Well, my comments. I think the Array is perfectly fine... with the exception of these comments (ie. here comes my 2cents along with everyone elses  ).

1) I think the comments should come up with the full image first, rather than getting the image page, then having to click on the comments link. This way us dial-uppers can have comments to read while the image is loading.  

2) I should bookmark the Array page (the one with the thumbnails) that way I'd get to it quicker than going to the Array's front page first (which doesn't say when there's any updates)... OK, that's a comment for something I should do, nevermind.  

3)... but it does bring up the point that I never know when to look not knowing when it's updated.

4) And another general comment: I just like to look at the pretty pictures, even if I don't comment.

Flash is groovy when done well. The problem is that Flash is very seldom done well. Besides that, some of us are coming in on browsers that don't handle flash exactly gracefully (like Netscape on FreeBSD). Besides that, most Flash developers don't leave other means of navigating the site for the Flash impaired. Just this morning I was browsing Bloody-Roar.com and couldn't do anything with part of the site because they used pure flash on the US english section. That's a gross oversight.

I'm not saying all Flash is bad, but it is mostly unnecessary.

I personally don't like Flash a lot, but that is really because I have seen very few sites that really use it well. (and of course, it takes longer to load than a conventional HTML-only webpage )

See that's another beef. A properly put together flash page should load just as fast as HTML. Too many designers want to preload everything because they're focused on making it movie like. On the other hand, you can build a Star Trek style computer interface in flash and have it smooth and clean if you're careful. Too bad most of them won't make that effort.
