Well, The Mara can dual-Kayser, hold 100+ Hornets, and 11 Trebs...
All with a very good speed, and excellent armor and shield systems
Just don't give away the homeworld...

That's easily said then done. Sometimes I swear they deliberately aim for me especially near the end of a mission. Nothing is more frustrating then almost beating a mission only to have a beam kill you without any warning.

Yes, hostile AAA beams do deliberately aim for you at the end of the mission. In fact, they always aim for you.

If you've ever done 'A Game of TAG' then you will know what I mean.  Sometimes the ULTRA-anti-fighter beams on the Warspite skewer you along with the Shivan fighters when you TAG 'em from behind...1 hit KO in a Ulysses...   Although I've been skewered by friendly AAAf beams several times when I try to gun down hostile fighters (ungrateful bastards...).

That said, give the Colossus all ULTRA anti-fighter beams, set the pilot and gunner AI to General and crank the difficulty to insane...and stay in a safe spot while watching Shivan wings get impaled from 4 km away  (any fighters with 100 hp or less get instagibbed, like Dragons and Basilisks).

Whats the name of the Ultra fighter beam?
It isnt AAAf or AAAh. What is it exactly?

It's called ULTRA-antifighter beam  :D (well the weapon name starts with ULTRA)

The range is 4000 m, each pulse does at least 100 damage (it fires 3 pulses each burst at fighters/bombers/bombs, continuous if it's fired on warships), enough to 1-shot a Dragon/Basilisk.  Switch the AAAf on a Colossus to the ULTRAs and watch as it grinds fighters and bombers like a beast  :mad2:  It'll even kill corvettes in reasonable order if there's enough focus fire

select ULTRA anti-fighter beam from the turret weapon list in FREd (weapons sub-editor, accessed from the ship editor)

Yeah, the FRED code IS ULTRA anti-fighter beam.  Oh and my mistake, the ULTRA does 165 dmg/pulse, 3 pulses a burst.  Any attack against a Colossus armed with these will suffer massive casualties, as any light fighter (pretty much all Shivan craft except the Mara) dies to 1 hit, and the Colossus brings down 4-5 beams on a target at once, sometimes killing an entire wing because they were formed up too tightly so near-misses find hits  .
