What is recommended FILE FORMAT for audio ?
I think even 3.6.9 supports .ogg ? Is there only one ogg or are there more ? Is it memory-efficient ?
And where are codecs available ?

Re: What is recommended FILE FORMAT for audio ?
1. Ogg has been supported at least since 3.6.9.
2. There is Ogg Vorbis for sound and Ogg Theora for video.
3. Dunno. But at least it takes up less space and the difference in quality can only be noticed by the most hardcore hi-fi people (at least when talking about voice files or music in FS).

Re: What is recommended FILE FORMAT for audio ?
Why they turned to OGG and not to MP3?? the OGG is a more compact file??

PS: I use MP3 Audio Editor, which also saves in OGG if I recall correctly.

Re: What is recommended FILE FORMAT for audio ?
The OGG codec is open source, and therefore free, mp3 is not.

Re: What is recommended FILE FORMAT for audio ?
Not only is it free, it is not GPL.  GPL code would require that the engine itself also be released under a GPL or compatible license, which it is not.  So we have to use things with licenses such as the MIT or a BSD-style license, which have no such restriction.  I think libflac and some form of x264 codec are the next logical additions in terms of media support, but vorbis and theora should be enough for some time to come.
