Turning off support ships in-mission
I'll get right to the point:
Is there any way to either disable the use of support ships once a mission is underway, or prevent the re-loading of a specific secondary weapon via support ship?

Re: Turning off support ships in-mission
As far as I know, you can't.

This actually would be something worth suggesting to the SCP team though.  I can see the uses.
Spoon - I stand in awe by your flawless fredding. Truely, never before have I witnessed such magnificant display of beamz.
Axem -  I don't know what I'll do with my life now. Maybe I'll become a Nun, or take up Macrame. But where ever I go... I will remember you!
Axem - Sorry to post again when I said I was leaving for good, but something was nagging me. I don't want to say it in a way that shames the campaign but I think we can all agree it is actually.. incomplete. It is missing... Voice Acting.
Quanto - I for one would love to lend my beautiful singing voice into this wholesome project.
Nuclear1 - I want a duet.
AndrewofDoom - Make it a trio!

Re: Turning off support ships in-mission
Isn't turning off support ships possible in the Mission Specs menu?

Re: Turning off support ships in-mission
First post specified disabling them mid-mission or disabling specific secondary reloads.

Re: Turning off support ships in-mission
So, turning off support after the fact may not be possible, but I did find a SEXP that serves my needs, the Set-Secondary-Weapon expression. Comes standard with three arguments, but the first additional one sets how much ammo you get, and the second extra argument sets how much ammo support ships can reload for that particular weapon.

You could just use set-support-ship from Change->Special.

But using that SEXP is also an option.

Looking at the options for that SEXP... it is AWESOME!

Not only can you set what support ship a mission uses, but you can even tell it to arrive in and/or depart to a specific docking bay! And apparently you can set a maximum number in-mission... I don't know what that would do exactly, but I'm guessing it's probably a limit on how many you can call in, not how many at once... it says -1 for unlimited.

Re: Turning off support ships in-mission
Yep, it sets the maximum number of support ships a mission can have. If you set it to 1 then you'd have to protect it during the mission or go without rearming.

Kara, what version of FRED are you using? Because I don't have that. Just checked.

It should definitely be in 3.6.10.

Nurrr. Indeed it is. And 3.6.11 too. Oh, well. Thanks for the help anyways.

Re: Turning off support ships in-mission
Seems to be a slight bug with this sexp. I'm using the latest windows SSE2 build 5816 (also present in SSE2 build 5641) and noticed if you set max number of support ships to 1 it will only reload one craft then it is no longer available to the AI or player via the comms menu even though it is still active in the area. You have to have the value set to at least 2 or above for the support ship to perform more than one ship reload during it's lifetime within the area.

Just wondering if anyone else has noticed this?

Stick that in Mantis and it will probably get fixed fairly quickly.
