Re: lulz politics 'n' stuff
Forty thousand is more dead than in any war smaller than Korea.  Total U.S. dead from Vietnam was only 68,000.  That said, Japan started the whole damn thing with a surprise attack that left nearly 5,000 dead over the course of two days.  America was justified in dropping the atomic bombs.  I have research to back me up on this point.

I wasn't aware the U.S. had attacked Japan or Vietnam in the war on terror.  Truly breaking news there.

It's also extremely small potatoes compared to the Haiti disaster.

The Haiti disaster wasn't engineered.  That makes a big difference (perhaps not big enough, but significant nonetheless)

EDIT:  Can we get a split?  (not going to make a new post for a request like that).

That's nice. Sounds like a purely conservative point of view. I'm moderate so I'm against the use of nukes, unlike nuke happy conservatives. Let's put you on the receiving end and see what your attitude is. Nukes are a form of terrorism too, so USA are not ones to talk, huh? Which side is good or bad in a war against America? Both sides are both good and bad maybe, or is bad an opinion, or are we just brought up to automatically think our side is always good? Is there are good and bad side to any war or is that all perception?

You know what I mean, so why try to be funny in a serious argument?

If you think about it, it almost seems like most of the loss of American life and destruction of American property is a result of internal problems if you add up all the homocides, serial killings, shootings, bad habits of many who live here, like tobacco use and bad diets, vandalism, fires and natural disasters here, and even the junk and chemicals they put in most of your food, many medicines, and water supply here. Many decades of that adding up probably caused more casualties here than if you added up the loss of usa life in both Pearl Harbor and 911 combined. But I guess no matter how we look at it all, it is all small potatoes compared to the number of people on Earth or even the number living in usa. Even a million is small: 1/7500th of the world's population. Of course I'm not saying it is good to bomb others even if it is small potatoes.

Edit: Sorry, Klaustro; I already posted that as you were saying to take it to offtopic. Also, I'm banned there, so I can't :p

Get your history and politics out of GenFS, please  :hopping:
Really out of place.

It's got to be heavy assault/light bomber. Do it all!

Re: lulz politics 'n' stuff
I agree with you, but I did not start the mentioning of bombings and offtopicness in this thread. I would rather not talk about nukes.

To make up for it. Here is some on-topic and for a fictional universe:

I really do like the Sekhmet bomber if any bomber is to be used in a mission. It seems so well balanced.

Hear hear, can we have a thread split/move?

I'm sending my reply as a PM, to be reposted if that line of discussion moves to GenDisc.

I feel I've already beaten my occupation of choice to death, so I'll just be quiet now.

Re: lulz politics 'n' stuff
I've been increasingly frustrated by some of the conversation trends occurring in here recently, so I'm going to keep this nice and simple:  STOP. DOING. THIS. HERE.  If you want to get into ridiculously heated arguments about political or historical events, General Discussion is just down the forum index; I'm sure both Nuke and Dekker would be perfectly happy to get more threads to drop the hammer on.  The only sort of ridiculously heated arguments I want to see in this folder are those concerning obscure storyline and/or mechanics elements of a ten-year-old space sim.  That is all.

(Oh, and if it looks like I edited every single post in here, it's because the thread-splitting mechanic randomly tacked on about a hundred backslashes to the new thread title...which, of course, wound up in every individual post title and stretched the hell out of the boards.  I don't think it likes me. :p)

You were banned from there for doing pretty much what you did here. If you fail to see where I'm going with that then by all means keep doing this.
