This is over reacting, it was an obvious joke and considering the day he was just.... i'm afraid to let lose my rage and get banned for it... no wonder many people that get into confrontations with certain admins here end up quitting.

Even more, even if you were to ban him from the chatroom, banning him from the forum is just too much, they are two different places and you shouldn't ban him from two places just because you are angry with him, that's uncalled for and abusing your powers. This is like being a governor of a small wild west town and losing to someone in a hand of poker then getting them hanged for that, at least that's how I see it, i am yet again disappointed, i used to hold respect for some people and now i can't even feel like talking to them.

I have to agree that this decision doesn't look all that great for Goob.

The personal should be kept isolated from the political  (inasmuch as 'political' means 'the business side of HLP'), and frankly I think this represents a failure in that respect.

And I would say that the internet lacks <joking> tags, so while common sense says that what c-c said was probably a joke, it was also an extremely bad one to make, especially towards an Admins' or ChOps' face.

The admins can tell who you are by looking at your IP.

Not if you bypass it by using different computers, like going to a computer lab. A proxy might also work; not sure. Also, there are programs for masking your ip.

What if your ISP provides you with a dynamic IP (like mine does)? Not that it matters anyway, since I'm not planning on breaking any rules. Really. I'm just curious.

Also, what kind of silly name is captain custard? That name right there is a reason for him to get banned I'm kidding of course. It does sound like the name of one who over-indulges on well.... donuts or other fake foods. Like a name you would give to Jabba the Hut.

Now don't tell me that isn't peculiar and that people on this forum haven't said things 10 times more peculiar than I have.
