In FS2 they are. In FS1 there are different naming conventions (for example when you were flying against traitor terrans, their ships were named Traitors Alpha, Traitors Beta, etc.)

Is this Silent threat you're referring to?  (Didn;t have that).  BTW, were the HOL/ pre GTVA-Vasudans given the same wing names as the Shivans in FS1?

Nah, haven't played Silent Threat, but from what I've heard, its no like I've missed something.

I was referring to the (stupid mission names, stupid brain of mine) mission where you have to disable Alex McCarthys transport.

Axem - Sorry to post again when I said I was leaving for good, but something was nagging me. I don't want to say it in a way that shames the campaign but I think we can all agree it is actually.. incomplete. It is missing... Voice Acting.
Quanto - I for one would love to lend my beautiful singing voice into this wholesome project.
Nuclear1 - I want a duet.
AndrewofDoom - Make it a trio!

Just to make sure: Naming conventions
FS2 naming convention for hostile wings is Zodiac signs, as Aldo said, although I think I recall encountering an Arjuna wing somewhere in the main campaign.  In general, use zodiac signs, unless you have hostiles of different species in the same mission, in which case you might go for one of the other conventions (like colours, for example).
Sesqu... Sesqui... what?
Sesquipedalian, the best word in the English language.
