Practical issue: the projectiles would need to be pretty big (at least large blob-sized) for the player to resolve the words at a reasonable distance. Furthermore, projectile orientation might be troublesome as well.

Well, you could use an invisible model with a glowpoint (in the form of a word) and then it will always face the player.
