Re: Jurassic Park III's "Spinosaurus"
BTW, if it and its relatives were scavengers, what was the apex predator of the late cretaceous?

You do have to wonder about that one. Unless they think that pretty much all the large dinosaurs had no natural predators and T Rex and his ilk waited until they died of old age.

I don't doubt that T Rex scavenged, pretty much all predators will scavenge. It's easy meat. Proving that it only scavenged is a little harder.

Agreed, I suspect it wasn't the entirety of their diet, but if you didn't have to chase it, why not? They probably also stole kills from smaller carnivores, the creatures may change over the aeons, but I suspect the methods involved aren't all that different to what you'd see in ecosystem with large predators.

Ironically enough, you chose the exact animal I was mentally comparing the T-Rex with.... :nervous:

The typical problem is that you can't get rid of all the small guys, all the time, without turning your back on too many of them...

Re: Jurassic Park III's "Spinosaurus"
Jurassic Park III fails because I wanted to see, at least once, actual well-armed people take on the dinosaurs. They had the Marines on the beach at the end and I wanted to see the raptors (used to our unarmed protagonists) charge and get whacked.

Seriously. They even had the audacity to show off a rocket launcher in the beginning, but never actually use it. The marines storm the beach fully armed... still no dinosaurs die, despite the three aircraft carriers deployed. What I remember as a carrier-launched F-15 (cringe) then tailed a dino to report that it was migrating... still no dinosaurs die. Let them migrate, I guess.

BLOCK THE OPENING DON'T LET HER GET OUT
Spoon - I stand in awe by your flawless fredding. Truely, never before have I witnessed such magnificant display of beamz.
Axem -  I don't know what I'll do with my life now. Maybe I'll become a Nun, or take up Macrame. But where ever I go... I will remember you!
Axem - Sorry to post again when I said I was leaving for good, but something was nagging me. I don't want to say it in a way that shames the campaign but I think we can all agree it is actually.. incomplete. It is missing... Voice Acting.
Quanto - I for one would love to lend my beautiful singing voice into this wholesome project.
Nuclear1 - I want a duet.
AndrewofDoom - Make it a trio!
