I've always considered wing naming more of a general theater thing then a written rule.  If the guy running the AWACS want's to designate wings as ex-girlfriends then he can.  Yea they should become standard over time in that theater of operation but if a second front opened up you would expect multiple naming conventions.  Heck even different branches of the military (if they exists) might call them different things.

There's a reason why the short and simple Shivan wing names got underlined as the ones used in FS1 itself. There's a ****load of names on that list; you'd need to have used up a huge number of wings to have to fall back on Satanarayana.

There is plenty of usable names at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vedic_astrology. You have Surya (the sun), Chandra (the moon), Mangala (Mars), Budha (Mercury), Shukra (Venus), Shani (Saturn). There's lots of usable names in there: Rahu, Ketu, Mesa, Simha, Kanya, Tula, Dhanus, Makara, Sukha, Putra, Ari, Dharma, Karma, Labha, Vyaya, Magha, Ardra, Hasta, Chitra, Svati, etc...
