I thought it was OK, per se, but it was extremely dull in the first half. However, the animation, and the action in the latter half, was simply astounding.

I think Anon is referring to Metropolis, as in the 1930s romanian film about mechanical workers. It coined the term 'robot' as we know it today.

I'm assuming your talking about the recently released Anime edition of the story? I saw it about 3 months ago in a little cinema in a city near me with a couple of other Anime fans. I really enjoyed it actually, although I think Akira is still by far the best of the bunch (Princess Mononoke is also a strong contender).

Great film though, excellent animation and it really got flowing in the second half.

Princess Mononoke was probably the best full-length anime I've ever seen, except maybe Macross Plus. Of course, that's divided into four "episodes," but combine them and they equal a single 2 hour movie.

bah, between jinroh, akira, mononoke, nausicaa, porco rosso etc etc etc, there's no way I could tell what is my all time favourite anime movie ( and then I forget about the OVA ( like Macross plus which is not a movie ) or the series.  Anime rules.
