I've seen a lot of rumors that the Playstation 5 will have backwards compatibility when it comes out (rumored to be in the next couple years). 

Do you think that's true and to what extent do you think it will have BC?


I think it will probably be with at least PS4 and hopefully PS1/2 as well (due to unique architecture the PS3 is an outside shot from what I've heard).

I hope so, because... i mean, how can i place countless consoles under the TV? There is by far not enough room or power sources.

And i still playing games on older systems as well. Already have a Dreamcast, WiiU (because it is backward compatible to every Nintendo console that was released before that), Switch, PS3, PS4 Pro, X-Box Classic, 360 and One X here.

I am still using my PS3 for PS3 and some PS2 games, that still can not be emulated. Still have an X-Box Classic in use, because most of our collection still can not be played on 360/One.
I hope the 360 can be retired sometime in the future, because Microsoft atleast try to make the whole 360 catalogue backwards compatible. Would like the retire the PS4 as well then.

Lol, when I see the topic title and then realize that I'm only concerned with backwards compatibility for PSX/PS2 and wouldn't even have used the console for anything after PS2 anyways.

If they continue the apparent standardisation on commodity architectures then I would expect all the next gen consoles to be backwards compatible.

I can't quite see them allowing this without trying to get some money out of it, even if it's only part of PS+ or whatever the XBox live thing is called these days.
