Re: Weird Freespace dreams
I thought the use of the meson bombs was just to take no chances, and while a node could possibly survive the destruction of a destroyer class or larger vessel, it was still a risk that the node might collapse. But in the dream, that possibility didn't come up at all.

The Final War For The Multiverse

I had one that was rather involved, and had a lot of non-Freespace related parts and parts that I don't remember, but I do recall clearly seeing a fight between the Lucifer and the Sa-Matra from Star Control 2.

The Lucifer's shields were able to absorb a few blasts from the Sa-Matra which would have destroyed almost any other ship, but then the next blast overwhelmed its shields and destroyed it. The Lucifer never even got within range to fire its own weapons.

I also didn't even see the Sa-Matra, since it was firing from an incredibly long distance.

Then I remember someone discussing that if the Sa-Matra were to be modeled in the Freespace engine, what size it should be, and they eventually decided on around 10 km long.

I had a dream where I was playing some versions of levels from TIE Fighter, but remade in the Freespace 2 engine, using FS2 ships. I specifically remember playing the "Guard Resupply" mission in the Sepan Civil War campaign, where you have to escort the TIE Advanced prototypes from the escort carrier to your Star Destroyer. Except the Escort Carrier was replaced with a Deimos (even though it doesn't have a hangar bay), the TIE Advanced were replaced with Myrmidons, and the enemy ships were replaced with Shivans (I remember 2 Cains flying side by side). At one point the Deimos jumped out and jumped back in again, and at another point one of my wingmen complained about the tug pilots crashing one of the Myrmidons into his fighter.
