while this is not what we all know and love about gravity.......what are the possibilities of having a sexp in fred that will not allow the target to not venture away from an object?  I understand that it would mean redundant fredding, but how possible is it?

basically

when
......<
.......distance
.......(object a)
.......(object b)
............(insert value)
pullback (lack of a name)
......(insert value)  which is how close to the gravitational object you want it to be.

object a would always be the base object, and object b would be the object that can't stray from it.

This would be complicated, and you are bound to be flamed. I for one though, think it could be done. MAYBE without source code MODs.

actually i've already done something like this without source code, but it would be easier with source code.

But gravity just slows you down, and if you don't have enough engine, stops you. And if it stops you, it does it gradually. By that I mean you aren't cruisin' at top speed, then suddenly wham! you stop. Just like you hit the side of the level, which is unrealistic for fs2.

easiest solution would be to make an invisible box, save the coders some trouble

i think that the you missed the point hades, the object is to remain on the ground.  but thank you for explaining to me what i already knew.  if i were thinking of flying craft i would have asked for a sexp to control escape velocity,  and that would be set up kind of like the inner radius and outter radius of damage. but instead of damage vs distance, it would have been pullback vs speed.  That's not what i am asking though.

Just for purely ground targets (no jumpjets ect.)  think of 2 magnets... Put one above the surface (the one that can be targeted and seen on sensors) and an object underneath/behind the ground that the target is tied to?? Can something like that work?????? Just trying my best since I am only of average intelligence (latest IQ test) I dropped 2 points and am no longer in the above category...
Don't think of it as being outnumbered. Think of it as having a wide target selection !
