As for the Left, I was referring more to the fact that it offers no threat in military terms. There is a little less than zero chance of the leftist regimes of the world overthrowing the US Government. Any change would come via the American people, and it'd be a poor form of propaganda that urged you to join the Army in order to shoot your neighbours.

I wouldn't say that, there are still a very strong leftist parties in former USSR nations that stand a high chance of gaining power.

I think the point is that no outside influence whatsoever is gonna have much effect on the US. It could, twenty or forty years down the line, but it's crumbling internally too fast to fall from outside force. It won't be the New Soviets in the streets, it'll be Amerika's own children, howling for its death.

And then it'd be up to a lone, nano-augmented agent to save the world, eh?

Actually, Left, Right, and Center come from the French Revolution, not from Britain.

I very much doubt that. American Chauvinism in the youth is as strong as ever, and will continue to be as long as the meme is perpetuated in the schools.

You have to agree that it's more likely than Cuba invading Florida.

I'd be prepared to say it's about as likely (not very).

I am no great supporter of capitalism, but as I have said here countless times, I want it to thrive to its fullest at the moment (that is, for a couple centuries), since that and only that will ensure its eventual demise.

You contradict yourself; you argue based on the assumption that it is logical to be 100% selfish yet the chances of that happening in your lifetime are very rare. Would it therefore more logical to fight your ideals through a more forceful means in order for you to get the satisfaction of seeing them implemented (and taking all the risks involved).

Whatever I do, this will not be effectively implemented in my lifetime anyway. I can try for a revolution (assuming that it will actually get anywhere in this day), but then you will most likely have the same slow train of collapse back to capitalism that we have seen in history many times, and a period of ruin for everyone in between. Regardless of this though, my life is perfectly fine at the moment, so I have no reason to want any immediate change. (same goes for just about everyone else around here) I as an individual will prosper much more under a capitalist system, since capitalism favors the individual man; the society as an entire unit is what will suffer, which makes the system pointless from that point of view, but that is not my personal concern, and it will take care of itself over time anyway.
