How do you make Orion Nameplates?
How do you make the nameplates that go on the Orion? I need some for the TVWP, and I don't know how to make them.
I already got that pack off of VWatch, but I need the GTD Gaia, and the GTD Orion. As well as a few others later on.
I have Paintshop Pro 7, if that helps any.

Methinks you need to create a layer of about 50% opacity, type up the text in 'Stop' format, and (before saving) delete a number of space on it to try and make the texture look 'worn'

Any help?

The texture you want to make a copy of and edit is capital01-05a. After you make an edited copy of the texture, you make a copy of the POF file and change the name of that texture to your ship specific one. (Example: The Galatea is capital01a so it's texture name is capital01a-05a.)

I already knew that. I need to know how to make the text transparent.

Depends on what you're using to edit the image. If it supports layers, putting the text on a seperate layer and making that layer 50% transparent (or whatever looks good) ought to work, though it may not look exactly the same as the way they did theirs. (Not really sure what they did to get their text the way they did, and they're probably the only ones who know exactly what they did.)

No, other people know how to do it. Dark and Goober5000 have both done excellent ones. I'll just have Goober5000 do the nameplates for the TVWP.

Here.  Just because I was bored, nice, and procrastinating.  It also only took a moment to do.  I'm sure you'll find them just what wanted.  (Yeah, I gave up on false humility awhile ago.  I'm good, and I may as well admit it.)

Thanks a lot. We already have the Orion, but what we really needed was the Gaia.

I know. That's what I was saying, thanks for teh Gaia, we already have the Orion. So, we needed the Gaia. All the needed was in PAST tense. ( Obviously English is my first language, and only ):)

Ah.  I see.  Your use of the present tense in the phrase "We already have the Orion" led me to think that at the time of writing (i.e. after you had downloaded the zip) that you already had an Orion and were still looking for a Gaia at that then-present moment.  If you'd said "We already had the Orion" I'd have understood you perfectly, because the use of the past form would have placed the frame of reference already in the past, thereby indicating that the need for the Gaia was also in the past.

Edit: Yeah, I'm a grammarian geekazoid.

The need for the Gaia was in the past. But need is refering to the future. You have to have in a sort, in the future. So, a few days ago, I could have said I have to have the Gaia, or I need the Gaia.
Therefore, we needed the Gaia ( Past tense ) but in the time of my post, I already had it. If I had needed it still, I would have put we need the Gaia ( present tense ).

Om a grammar geek also ( Just not a spelling one ):p

Yes, but the sudden switch from present to past between the two clauses threw me.  That's what I'm on about.  The first clause was in the present, leading me to think on a quick reading that the whole sentence was in the present.  If the two clauses had been in tense agreement, the communicaiton would have been much clearer. (Btw, need only refers to the future when in the future tense.)

But anyway, this is pointless argument, I guess (though I'll still post this since I've now already written it).

I like Corel PhotoPaint better.  Similar method of course, but I get to use fractal transperencies for a more convincing wear-and-tear look!
