Pic is fake

look under the guys nose - a shadow, the suns' probably almost overhead, a little to the left - but there are no rabbit shadows anywhere, not even those big tall ears. Admittedly, that could be the guys angle, but that, and the difference in focus (which should be the obvious kicker) suggests very strongly to me that the pic is a fake. It's a very good fake, quite possibly shot specifically to be doctored, but it is still a fake.

Are you sure it was a hamster? Those things are only meant to live to about 3 and lots go after 1 and a half years.

Um yeah - an0n mate, whoever sold you that 'hamster' was telling you porky-pies. Sounds like you had a guinea pig, there (or something else - possibly a mutant hamster?)

I'm certain it was a hamster. We put it in this huge fish-tank we'd had for ages, so it had like 7ft by 3ft to roam around in. And it wasn't any pissy little Russian hamster, it was a long-haired something. I'm not at all surprised it lived as long as it did. When we first bought it, on the way home in the card, it chewed clean through the hard-board box we were using to take it home in, and escaped onto the car floor.

I had a hamster waaay before that, that used to climb along the roof of it's cage, swing, and kick the little door open, then run off around the house. And a little after the other one, I had a hamster that kept escaping (no idea how) and running in behind the gas-fire where it would hide for 3 or 4 days, feeding off the food it had stored in it's pouches. Most times we had to remove about 4 layers of metal-frame and panelling to get in to the chimney and catch the little f*cker. It'd go in cream and come out 3 days later completely black.

Oh, yeah, and the cream one took off the tip of my friends finger. It'd just had like 12 baby-hamsters and the next day my friend came round and went to stroke the momma-hamster. In a flash, it turned, jumped about 3 inches and sunk it's teeth into his index finger. He was pouring with blood for about an hour. Sooooo funny.

Yah, this is why people shouldn't keep hamsters. Vicious little buggers, they are. Rats all the way! Or degus, if you can get 'em...

OK, enough about hamsters.

As soon as they develop an atomic-powered rabbit, I'll get interested. Until then, rats are the only truly cool rodenty things.

Guinea pigs are mostly just entertaining because of the way their population goes- I remember having a pair of 'em as a kid. Within two years, I had about 20. Within another year, I had two males, both of which were getting old. And any species that eats its own children is a big plus to me, simply because you know that if they ruled the world, you'd never see any of these stupid family soaps.
