I've always just put a light of the correct color in the area of the engine, to light up the ajacent polygons with the correct hue, and then added in the glow with Photoshop. I don't know how to do engine glows in TS, though - sorry.

"...The quintessential quality of our age is that of dreams coming true. Just think of it. For centuries we have dreamt of flying; recently we made that come true: we have always hankered for speed; now we have speeds greater than we can stand: we wanted to speak to far parts of the Earth; we can: we wanted to explore the sea bottom; we have: and so  on, and so on: and, too, we wanted the power to smash our enemies utterly; we have it. If we had truly wanted peace, we should have had that as well. But true peace has never been one of the genuine dreams - we have got little further than preaching against war in order to appease our consciences. The truly wishful dreams, the many-minded dreams are now irresistible - they become facts." - 'The Outward Urge' by John Wyndham

"The very essence of tolerance rests on the fact that we have to be intolerant of intolerance. Stretching right back to Kant, through the Frankfurt School and up to today, liberalism means that we can do anything we like as long as we don't hurt others. This means that if we are tolerant of others' intolerance - especially when that intolerance is a call for genocide - then all we are doing is allowing that intolerance to flourish, and allowing the violence that will spring from that intolerance to continue unabated." - Bren Carlill

Like Carl said. I also use Photoshop to add engine glows. If you have Photoshop 7, use the sunburst effect and add it to the empty spot where the engine entakes (or whatever) are. I would recommend you to use one red, blue, yellow or whatever, and make a smaller totally white glow on the previous colored glow. Make sure to set all glows, brightness, density and such to zero as too many flares may ruin your render. You may choose the size of the burst yourself. I made a render recently with a new engine glow technique I created. The previous ones I made really sucked.

I take a plane with the thrusterglow texxie filterred on it in front of the engine, or flat in view where the engine glow would be in perspective to the viewer... Also works..

There are MANY ways to attempt it in TS5, You have to fool around and see what you like most...

Thanks for the ideas boys and girls. Me and a mate were messing about with this tonight, and we got some pretty good results. Unfortunately, they took about 3 minutes to render one frame. (hehe, buggered for ani's eh?) We did it with two lens-flares and a big-ass-round-loopy-thing-light. :) Not a perfect result, but a good start. I post pictures wen I some. ;)
