Dude, don't take offence here, but this entire topic is just...wrong.
First off, 'Does anybody really care about TVWP', might not be the best way to get people interested in your mod. It suggests that you don't have confidence in your own work, and if you don't even have the confidence to assume people will like it, how do you expect people to want to play it, particularly considering the 13 meg download (Not massive I'll admit, but as a 56ker, it did put mee off downloading it this arvo).
Second of all, releasing your campaign without missions, no matter how unfinished it is, is no good. People are, for the most part, lazy. If we download something, we want to play it, not create more work for ourselves in FREDding missions which really wouldn't be a lot of fun to play anyway (self FREDed ones that is). Had you made the mods yourselves, you might have gotten away with releasing it as a TC pack or something, and while I don't doubt that you did put a lot of work into it, you can't avaoid the fact that you didn't make the mods, so it's not really appropriate (to my way of thinking) to release it as a TC. That's just my opinion though.
The storyline issue is a murky one here. Admittedly, you are doing a prequel, and so some of the story is fairly well known, and it's a personal descision, but, particularly the way you've released so far (sans missions), I personally believe it was a bad idea. Despite the fact that it's a game, and fun to play, the basic point behind every campaign, from :v:s to CoW (shortest one I could think of, No offense Aldo), they're about telling the story. If you release the story, nobody will feel the need to play the campaign.
Despite what I've said, people don't not want to play the TVWP, and I'm sure they care about it. However, have you considered making sure that they also know about it? Tell people! Post in your forum with a sticky topic, link to it in FS Modding, Gen FS, even Hard Light if the admins'll let you get away with it. PM Windrunner and get it on the front page. It's news, it'll get up there. Even when you have nothing to release, make fancy renders, screenshots, whatever. While I'll admit to not following the TV War Project like a bloodhound, I didn't really know about the release until I read this topic. Maybe I'm slower than others, maybe it just needed more coverage.
Finally, your website, you get a shiny gold star for function... but a gelationous grey brown mass for aesthetics. If you're using Word for webpage design, maybe it's time to get some help, and you've been offered some - take it. If you want input, work together, maybe you write the text, define the areas, whatever. But think of something to tidy the site up a bit.
So, in summary
Pimp like hell, but don't overpimp. Hard to balance, but important.
Keep at least some of the story quiet
FRED something. Even if it's just random missions to show things off (like we got with ST). Remember, you're creating something to be played - give us something to play with.
Once again, don't take this the wrong way. I've tried to avoid being as negative and impolite as several others in this thread, and what I've provided is intended as constructive criticism. Do with it what you will. Anyway, if this thread continues to degenerate, I think the hammer will descend on it, so I'll get out now.
