Favorite 5 arcade games of all time?
With a nod towards Aldo's thread, let's now list your five favorite ARCADE games. And by that, I mean the games you've fed the most quarters to (or 3.789-shilling pieces, or whatever).

Mine--
• Robotron (or any other Williams game)
 • Wizard of Wor
 • Tempest
 • Trog
 • Galaga
 •
Guess I never got into fighting or driving games.

I don't know the name of my favorite arcade game. It was in a cabinet labeled "Sidearms" but it was blatantly NOT side arms. I don't go in much for arcade games, overall. so... um...

1. the game I don't know the title of
2. Silent Scope
3. Silent Scope 2
4. um... house of the dead?
5. Attack from Mars pinball.

Dunno, dunno, that Aerosmith-based ****ty game. They're not really my favorites, they're just the only ones I've played period in arcade form. I think one of those was Area 51, which would probably win the prize for most coinage lost to it. I kinda wish I could remember the other one clearly, it was pretty cool. Sorta a violent, post-apocalyptic Locus with one of those seats that starts shaking all over the place when you blow something up.

I'm dating myself here but:

1.  Defender/Stargate
2.  Missile Command
3.  Astroids
4.  Galaga
5.  Some jet fighter game.  I think it was called Mach III or something like that.  I dumped so many quarters in this one, the arcade owner had mercy on me and set it to  unlimited lives so I could play it through to completion.  :)

1. Sega Rally.  Not a classic arcade game, but theres a four player set up down the beach and me and my mates can't resist.
2.  Battlezone
3.  Asteroids
4. ...

Actually i never played many arcade games, so i dont know why i am here.  The classic ones were all before my time, and most of my money, when i go near an arcade, gets spent on the coin pushing machine (bad description).

Ooo, i liked primal rage too, some dinosaur combat game.

I have not actually played these on the original coin-op machines since PCs were coming into fasion by the time I was born (and arcades therefore had newer games), but I played computer versions of them to death. :D

1: Battlezone (the old one)
2: Asteroids
3: Defender

That's about all the major ones I remember.

Damn, I can't believe I forgot that one. Wasn't easy, but it was 5w337, as the saying goes.

Probably the best ever lightgun game to go nuts and "john woo" your way through. :D

That's how I was introduced to the game. I was in an arcade in Yamato, Japan and was playing some scratch'n'mix DJ sim game and doing miserably. My buddy Weizhuang got my attention and pointed over to this machine they had just installed.

There's this 20yo japanese kid playing House of the Dead with zenlike calm. He's got a lightgun in each hand and his movements are super precise. He fires off all the bullets in one gun and as he does, his other hand is coming up to take over. He doesn't move anything but his arms from the shoulders. No extra movements nothing.

He finished the game on a single 100y coin. It was incredible.

In no particular order:

1. 1942 (Have no idea why)

2. Chase HQ (S.C.I was ok but not quite as good)

3. I liked Llamatron, which was basically robotron with llamas, a Jeff Minter game I think.

4. Afterburner II (In the full cabinet was awesome)

5. Sega Rally (First time I saw it I was :eek2: )

Yes. I remember that one. Was a better llama-based game ever made? Probably not.

At least two of those were utter ****e (Area 51, which was diabolically awfully bad and Cruisin USA), Crisis zone is the best lightgun game ever and sega rally just blows everything out of the water driving wise.

Stun Runner!!
The greatest arcade game of all time. However the only arcade I knew it to be in was about 80 miles from my home, and last time I went, they took it out! Gits!

(BTW, this was when I went on holiday, don't think that I travel 80 miled just to play games)

I was gonna say S.T.U.N runner too, but it was only truly great in the full cabinet that moved and ****. I still play that game on MAME all the time.
