Red Faction 2 is scheduled to be released in April 2003 for the PC. This is from a reliable source and CaRNaGE from Ub3r1337 that has spoken to the cousin of a man who works for THQ. So look forward to some fun in the future and dont give up hope yet. Ever wondered why they are keeping it a secret and not saying no?

cool eh?
hey any news is good news. now how reliable is this you ask? well have faith, i hope its true

anyways daveb: i know you read here, so please, since no one from any place of authority (cept you) monitors this place, theres no need to be secretive. most of the people here are loyal V fans, just gives us some indication whether this is true.

to everyone who want to flame me: what would it accomplish.

Good news (if it's true), but unfortunately RF2 is optimised for PS2 hardware - which means it has sucky graphics.... such a pity.
Science alone of all the subjects contains within itself the lesson of the danger of belief in the infallibility of the greatest teachers in the preceding generation . . .Learn from science that you must doubt the experts. As a matter of fact, I can also define science another way: Science is the belief in the ignorance of experts. - Richard Feynman

That depends entirely on how the engine was coded.
[I am not really here. This post is entirely a figment of your imagination.]

There's still hope, but there's a saying that goes 'don't get your hopes up'. I'll keep looking forward to it but I won't believe it until I see they've been doing actual work on it. :)

Hopefully they'll put the engine beyond PS2 use.

So you got it from InFerno who got it from CaRNaGE who got it from Ub3r1337 from a cousin of a man who works at THQ. And this is a reliable source.

Right, and I'm Melissa Joan Hart's second cousin. :doubt:

Not really... they wouldn't have had any choice, given the Ps2's technology.  Especially with the multiple piepline, the sod-all cache and the frankly head-splitting setup of the Emotion Engine.... they might have needed to programme in some new effects libraries for stuff like particles, too - I know a few people have started using software to emulate the sort of advanced effects that are now in-hardware with the X-box / Gamecube GPU's.

If they did convetr it, I'd imagine they'd have to tweak the balancing of stuff to get it working peak on PCs... of course, the PS2 is now relativley outdated, so it's probably a hell of a lot tougher to go from PC-PS2 than PS2-PC.
