Sometimes you can't get enough glowing green wireframes...

That took over an hour and a half to render just the one frame.  20k polys + fresnel effects == TEH LOES.

Dudealicious. That Mjolnir rocks, and wireframes always rock.

Now this, I don't get. Wireframes are supposed to take LESS time.

Not nessessarily as you are rendering all the verticies that you would normally not have to render as they normally would be hidden out of sight.

But you're not rendering textures, effects, complex light setups, or anything else, which between them free up more than enough space to compensate several times over. I guess he's got some kinda special light thing in there, but STILL...

Well its not really wireframe. Its a fresnel shader.

You're looking at a solid mesh with a shader effect that highlights edges. It gives a great glowing wireframe effect, but all the transparency slows it down immensely. The material I used for the normal display shots I did in the other thread only took 45s each to render with the exact same lighting setup. As HeX pointed out, with a transparency shader, you can't do any poly culling prior to rendering.

Wow..... <--- best word to describe :D

What program(s) did you use to construct/render that?

You can do this effect in pretty much every professional 3d package on the planet. Even if you don't have a fresnel shader, you can use careful gradients on your transparency, translucency, reflection and refraction channels to do the same thing.
