Right ladies and gents, i have a ship im working on... very ott... very big.... very much for fun :D

Anyway, it has a large barrel, and i've made a suitably large beam cannon to go in it, however after playing with this beam cannon (on a fenris) im not sure how id go about making the uni directional beam actualy work, on the fenris the ship would set course for the target firing the beam but it wouldnt actualy aim the beam at the ship... so the ship was essentialy shooting poor ole space :D

Any help on this will be *greatly* apreaciated.

Also, does anyone have any guides on ship/cap ship design, it's been a fair while since i've played around and im rather hopping someones written better guides to the table files than the ones i have.

Look for a chap called Karajorma. His sig has a link with probably the biggets and most comprehensive FS FAQ yet written.

Oh, and welcome to HLP, or whatever. There's supposed to be some crap about flamethrowers and a Shivan called Carl, and a big green beam, but I'm lazy so I ain't doing it ;)

LOL!

I'll do it:

Flamethrowers are under the seats, exits are to your left. If a large Shivan jumps you it's just Carl, etc. I don't know where to find the big green beam, so sod it.

With any luck i can show carl my 400 meter wide beam cannon and perhaps even the 5.5km(ish) barrel it lives in :D

400 meter wide?!? 5.5Km LONG?!? That is insane! How big is the ship if the main gun is such a size?

I'll only have one uber gun, and it'll have an 80 second recycle time, so as not to make it *too* evil :D

Edit: I'll attach a picture of whats completed so far :D

So it will still have smaller guns then? Like AAAf and flak?

It'll have a number of standard Beams, a good few sgreens along the sides 4 bgreens on the larger engines a few anti-fighter beams and im planning on making a rapid fire anti-fighter cannon (probly using the subach as a base).

Basicly the idea is to make a Super Jugernaught, something that can take on multiple destroyers or a sathanas or two and win... while looking good :D

Im probly not gonna bother with flak, i've messed around with usign maxims to replace flak guns on an aeolous and i found that the maxims where far more effective in stoping torpedeos.

Soon as i get home i`ll sort a piccy out of what i have so far.

hehehe.. stupidly powerfull is right.. thats why im making it uni-directional and 80 seconds to charge :D

also... it gave me an excuse to make a giant space faring gun barrel :D

I don't mean to pick holes or discourage you or anything, but you do know there's more to FS2 modding than making super juggers with millions of uber-beams, right? I mean, I don't want to criticize since I can't model at all, but the community's kind of moved away from massvie great Sathanas killers... a lot of people feel that it just takes a lot of fun out of the game, and the emphasis today seems to be on rejigging the GTVA fleet to be more like modern naval fleets, where the lightly armed carrier is the backbone of a taskforce, protected by smaller ships nad wings of fighters.

Just my two euros... ignore me if you want, I've really no right to be telling you what to do...

In order to get some real battles out of such a ship id have to do some sort of 3 on 1 sathanas match with bombers and the works.....


Mind you.... i've always wonder just how much it would take to crash fs2 :D

I like the array of gubbinz at the back... are they engine pods or part of the gun?

Engines, 4 larger engines, each with a beam cannon on the end (thats where the 4 bgreens will go) and then 4 smaller engines nested at the back, each of the smaller engines having mounts for 2 smaller most anti-fighter weapons, quite possibly anti-fighter beams but i might put some sort of rapid fire cannon there (as i mentioned above).

It's not actualy done yet, theres still a set of Broadside cannon arrays (sgreens) to go in and the barrel needs some "linkage" sections so it doesnt look like the things floating :D

BTW, the engines are actualy modified versions of the hades engines :D
