Calling to account (mission designers read)
After what seems like an eternity and a half hanging around this community its time to face some facts and what it amounts to is that I need the community's help and talents.

BlackWater Operations started as a simple 12 mission campaign supposed to tell a short story in two branches.  Sure it started small and it was supposed to have only one new ship (the Golgotha) but its spiraled out of control and taken over a few million different mission plans.  Unfortunately, since the time we started working on the campaign, things have changed and Kellan and I (the guys who figured we could do all the missions on our own) are now in university and continually are spending inordinates amount of time staying up late to complete assignments and strive towards that goal of getting a piece of paper with a degree printed on it.

This means that we need some help or BWO will frankly never be completed.  We don't want to see it never completed...its one of those things thats been around and were loath to abandon it at this stage.  What we need....is talented mission designers.  At this point, experience isn't all that important...some time to commit, communication skills, english skills, and enough tinkering in FRED to get your way around (so we don't have to tell you about beam-free for example) should be enough.

Again, I say....we need your support.  We need a veritable army of mission designers.  If we get that support, then we can probably finish the campaign very quickly.  Thats because we've got probably half the missions complete, a full mission design doc (so you know what your building), and an almost complete complement of MOD's which we've been keeping secret for such a long time now.

If you can throw your support our way....and you believe in finishing a legend...let me know.  Here or via e-mail.

don't complain!  3 projects?  meh :D ;)

i can help whenever i have time IceFire

I throw myself into learning textures and my mod is starting to happen, I get another hat to wear for WC and now this...

Worse still I'm moving in a month or two and will lose net access for about the same amount of time so my dependability is questionable..... (agony) :shaking:

As long as there is no time limit and your keep your expectations low (j/k) I am more than willing to take up the rear position and do what I can. (at least you got an overall mission/campaign doc to guide the fredders)...

I simply would hate to see another campaign that sounds so promising to go belly up or not get done ever. (this I forbid!)

BWO needs help?? ****..

Well ok.. I'll need to rearrange some priorities. Like I've told everyone (:sigh: ) I'll be able to help Mid Jan - Feb  (i just realised I'll be having finals and I still need to work on some other stuff) but If i'll have any time, it'll be then.

Resume includes:

- FREDing:

Lightning Marshall - (2 missions completed, I'm currently play balancing)

Freespace Port - I converted Silent Threat for them.. but unfortunatly do to a clarical error (****ed up and did the Multi's.. go figure) So I need to redo it.

DatDB - Over all nuisance as they may tell you ;)

Inferno - They're in-between chapters, but I will work for them as soon as we hunker down after Chap. 1's release.

Silent Threat Reborn - Freding once I complete the ST port

and I have a few other miscellaneous things.

__________________________________________

EDIT: ok.. now that I think about this.. it's crazy. I'm not going to be able to do anything full time for you guys (at least depending on how long you can wait) So until next summer.. the most you'll be able to get out of me is 5 missions tops.

If you still want me, I'd be glad to help as much as possible. I've looked foward to BWO for a long time and I don't want to see it pissed on in the gutter.

Icefire, if you have ICQ, my number's in my profile . I'll be home in 5 hours. Or you can email me/ pm/ whatever.

Fredding is as easy as pie, making good missions a little less but still easy if you put some time in it, always ready to fred.

BWO is realy not that far off from being done, most of the models are done, or nearly so, the big hurtle seems to be the missions wich I beleve are only about halfway done, and there's a lot of them, so what we need the most are freders, there are a few models that could use a little touch up,
with enough help I think it is posable that it could be done by the end of january, it's been sitting at what I think would take about two month to get done for almost six months

if there are any good texturers (not UV mapping, though that would be a plus, but you must be able to make new maps from scratch) there is a bomber that we have scraped soley becase I couldn't think of a good way to texture it, also there are a few models that could use LODs, and one or two that could be totaly reworked. if anyone wants to be a totaly dedicated LODer I will garentee you will get work here and in several other projects

 Same with Stealth. By the way, Ice, I'll be pushing the NTV demo out soon. Once that's done I can regulate myself to doing mission outlines and story work for a while and get back to BWO (like I should have done a couple of months ago).

Well if you all can do me a big favor by e-mailing me with what you can and cannot do (time, FREDing, etc.) and the best way I can contact you (I've got Trillian with MSN and ICQ setup so I can do either way).

If it all works out, I'll be able to compile a MOD pack and Kellan can set everyone up with the campaign doc.  So everyone will know what they are working on.

Ok...you want to know what I'm doing.  Univeristy combined honors, involved with numerous campaigns and mods (TBP, BWO, MT, OTT, and very minor contributions elsewhere), Voltion Watch, indoor and outdoor soccer, badminton, supposed to be training for the next level of soccer referee, and...umm....attempting to have a social life.  I'm busy.  Not denying that anyone else isn't busy...just that we need some help.

Once again, e-mail me is the best way to contact.  I've heard from a couple people already.  If you want to help, we'll see what I can do.

Guys, he's asking that you email him for a reason... it's more ordered. Once you get accepted or whatever, ICQ/MSN will be the way you'll be communicating most likely, but until then...

"...The quintessential quality of our age is that of dreams coming true. Just think of it. For centuries we have dreamt of flying; recently we made that come true: we have always hankered for speed; now we have speeds greater than we can stand: we wanted to speak to far parts of the Earth; we can: we wanted to explore the sea bottom; we have: and so  on, and so on: and, too, we wanted the power to smash our enemies utterly; we have it. If we had truly wanted peace, we should have had that as well. But true peace has never been one of the genuine dreams - we have got little further than preaching against war in order to appease our consciences. The truly wishful dreams, the many-minded dreams are now irresistible - they become facts." - 'The Outward Urge' by John Wyndham

"The very essence of tolerance rests on the fact that we have to be intolerant of intolerance. Stretching right back to Kant, through the Frankfurt School and up to today, liberalism means that we can do anything we like as long as we don't hurt others. This means that if we are tolerant of others' intolerance - especially when that intolerance is a call for genocide - then all we are doing is allowing that intolerance to flourish, and allowing the violence that will spring from that intolerance to continue unabated." - Bren Carlill
