What I would like to see in future Star Trek movies would be more intrigue, plots and ship to ship combat.

I recently watched finish Generations and I liked the part when the Klingon Bird of Prey and the Enterprise D slugged it out. That was fun to watch.

Nah! Data's not dead.  They downloaded him to B-4 before they killed him! (I sincerely apologize for that pun! :))

ST's writers need to be purged and some new faces brought in.  They really have run out of ideas.  All they seem to do in mix and match previous episodes and movies.  I knew what was going to happen when they were copying Data's memories.  Then at the end when it happened the only thing running through my mind was 'this is the same thing they did to Spock!'  At least They won't be wasting a sequel for the 'Search for Data'!

What I want to know is how does a cancelled cloning experiment turned slave in a Romulan mine, manage to organize, build, and equip a badarse starship with a weapon that uses a purely theoretical energy source to take on the Federation without anyone in the Romulan empire catching wind of it.   Why is his first target the Federation rather than his former Romulan slavemasters?  I need some aspirin.  That one gives me a headache.

5 minutes with a pencil and notepad and I could come up with a better premise than that!  The movie was good.  Don't get me wrong.  The cast did the best they could with the story they were given.  But that story really needed some more thought put to it.  It could have been so much better.

Maybe he thought after he got rid of the Federation, he could easily take on the Romulans later?

Hmm. Almost as emotional as What You Leave Behind.

Good film. But I think the Schimitar shoulda kicked the fleet's ass.

Yeah, and those Romulan warbird wanabes got torn up faster than redshirts subduing a tribble outbreak.

I dunno.. the whole movie seemed a lot like an Episode of TNG for me.. wasn't like Generatiosn or FC.

By the way, what is the maximum warp speed of the Enterprise E anyway? What about weapons? I know it has something called quantum torpedoes that are of a different colour from photon torpedoes.

From what I understand Q-Torps are ZPE based weapons

The E-E also has Photon torps and Type 12 phasers

Is it just me or did the Enterprise seem kinda weak?

I know it was fighting the Scimitar but why didn't it have it's Quantum Torps like it always has had (I.E. FC and Insurrection) ??

Another reason why this movie seemed like a 2 part episode.. :doubt:

The Scimitar was just a bad ass ship.  And you can't hit what you can't see (in the many definitoions of seeing).

Thor's Theory of the Week

Nemisis = Wrath of Khan

Points to prove it

1.  Spock sacrifices himself, Data sacrificies himself.
2.  Epic battle between Enterprise and One other ship.
3.  Picard and Shizon(?) = Kirk and Khan
4.  Enterprise gets trashed (I hate it when they do that!)
5.  Killer tech that will destroy everything in the wrong hands.  Genesis = Weird Radiation thing.
6.  Desert planets.
7.  The viewscreen.  Ok, there is a shot in Nemisis that is riped right out of WoK.  YOu see the Enterprise sitting directly infront of the Scimitar through the Scim's viewer.  Watch WoK and you'll see the same scene through the Reliant's viewer.

QED.

Thoughts?

Oh, I liked it, after a day of pondering, but I did like it.

I'd just like to weigh in on this thread by saying ST: Nemesis is probably the best Star Trek movie I have ever seen and I have seen all of them.  If not the best, then perhaps the second best...but its right up there with First Contact, Undiscovered Country, and Wrath of Khan (which I liked less than the other two believe it or not).

I know not everyone shares my opinion, but someone else with a differing viewpoint has to speak out and tell people that its a damn good movie if you know how to enjoy movies.

For all of the media encumbered out there...if you know how to enjoy a movie and you enjoy sci-fi...Nemesis is for you.  If your a sniveling movie critic who just doesn't get it...I don't know...just don't bother me :)

It was a kick ass movie. You are correct. I can't wait for the DVD to be released.

You may have to wait pretty long for the DVD version of it to be released.:)

Anyway, what is a Star Trek movie without the Enterprise getting its butt kicked from time to time?:D

By the way, I just watched finish Wrath of Khan after it was downloaded. Those phasers are like machine guns. Not the normal beam you would expect from phaser cannons.

Naa....in several scenes the Enterprise unleashed Quantum torpedoes...infact...the torpedo barrage that took out the cloak on the Scimitar was a crap load of Quantum torpedoes.  My guess is that they are a more precious commodity and they are suplemented by standard Photons which are everywhere.  In one instance I remember a launcher under the deflector fired a volley of torps followed by a volley from the quantum torpedo launcher.

The Enterprise was kicking some serious ass...the fact that the Scimitar was so much more powerful was pretty much the only reason it Enterprise was weak.  Put something like a Cardasian Galor vessel in its place and it would have come apart on the second pass (and thats figuring in that the Galor was lucky :D).

Now one of those new Valdors looks like quite a match for a Sovereign class as well.  Again, the fact that the Scimitar took the replacement for the D'Dedrix (sp) apart shows how powerful the Scimitar was (and probably how the Romulan commanders unintentionally manuvered into a good shot for Shinzon).

I just saw it a couple hours ago. There literally weren't anyone else in the theater. Probably because it's Christmas night...:)

It was a good movie. Plot was thin though.

Anout the Enterpise, it's a week ship. The hull seems to take damage everytime the shilds are below 50%. That could explain why it was destroyed so many times in the previous movies and series.
I finally destoryed the Shivan armada and all I got was this lousy T shirt.

Hmm, I think the Scimitar is a one-off ship, not a replacement for the D'Deridex.
