Has anyone got any suggestions on how to use Truespace?

I've got tS3, off a magazine CD, but I haven't got a clue how to use it. It doesn't seem to work at all logically - Eg. I tried to make a simple box shape. I created a cube, and tried to drag one face out to make it longer, but the selected face got smaller, so the object ended up looking like a pyramid with the top cut off.

The demos don't help at all, and I can't seem to find any tutorials.

Am I just thick, or does anyone else think this or have any tips?

trueSpace, if you ask anyone here, comes into your pool of knowledge with trial and error.  I personally just started modeling not over a year ago. (If you call that short...)  Just be patient and start modifying some of the ships out there for download.  There are other tutorials on how to [successfully] operate trueSpace.  But still, the mail joust comes from experience.

Just in case if no one has done this to you yet, I'll zap you.  If they have... I'll zap you anyway.


NOTE: I usually don't do this, but things must start SOMEPLACE at SOMETIME!

I use trueSpace 5.1, which is about 20 times better than TS3. After 3, they changed the interface to include 3D view controls which has made life a lot easier.

The best way to muck about with faces is to RIGHT CLICK on the 'Object Tool' which will bring up the parameters of that face. There, you can change position and size.

Did you acctually read the magazine? Because i got it on computer arts and they had a 6 page tutorial on using it.

I`ve had a look at that tutorial and it does tend to assume you know the basics of how to use a 3D modeller. It's more for beginners who have fiddled with a modelling program before rather than complete novices

There's a lot of "now scale the object and then move it...." not much use if you don`t actually know how to move and scale.
