I'm trying to convert a .3ds file to .cob by opening it up in truespace 2.  When I do, however, all subobjects are combined into one single subobject.  If I save each subobject as a seperate .3ds then I lose all the painstaking positioning of turrets that I did.  Any suggestions?

Failing that, what are u using to save the file in 3ds in the first place?

Have you tried moving through the hierarchy with the arrow keys? Remember, TS2 doesn't have TrueView so it might look like they're all one object when they are all just grouped together as one combined object.

Probably something called '3DS Max.' You may have heard of it! :D:D

That is the most normal way to save 3ds files, but not the only one of course. Wings3D for instance has 3ds as one of the few formats it can export, but it does it badly enough that I use obj instead. :)
