Yes, in my mind that is granted - "digital zoom" isn't worthy of the name any more than a microscope is good as a telescope. :rolleyes:

All that for a student with almost zero income?! *cries* Sorry man, as budget cameras go zoom isn't much of an option. Besides, for the type of camera-work I usually do, I can generally get physically closer to my subjects - family members. ;)

Not that that cam isn't good, I almost got myself one for Christmas... It's a shame that there are practically no good digital cams (I mean, reflex-style, with "pluggable" lenses and stuff) around here that cost less than 10k bucks.

Mmmm, digital SLR. :) Anyway, 10k bucks... what's that in USD? The cheapest one I can find around here is AUD$1500, about USD$700.

What my brother said. And remember that around here we have something like 60% to 100% import taxes over hi-tech stuff, that's why it gets so expensive even in US dollars.

Yeah, we get taxed into oblivion too, which I suppose is a pain short-term, but we get sweet social security. ;)
