Old news. That has been there for a while.

Also, there's not much point downloading it, unless you have Radeon 9500/9700 series video card. And if you want to watch the ATI DX9 demos (maybe some user-made demos too). Nothing else supports DX9, and no games support it either, yet.

Some sources have stated that this official download is actually public beta. Many have had problems after installing DX9.

For me DX9 works great. :)

And that is why? What new nice features that will be used in real programs after 2 years after it's release it'll have?

I think this is the final version, but there was a beta on the site before this.

I'm not sure if this even installed correctly. It gave a hundred or so error messages during the restart sequence that "Windows could not upgrade the file %1 to %2." There is no noticeable difference from 8.1a, but at least everything works correctly as before.

That happened to me before in Windows 9x systems upgrading to 7/8.0, so its not a dx9 problem. :nervous:

Because if you value your sanity, you never install the *.0 version of ANY Microsoft product. Is there anybody left that doesn't know this?

Was there even DX 7.1, 6.1 and 5.1? Could be, but I haven't noticed... :doubt:

Yep, my 3DMark score (on R8500) went down a little bit... :blah:

Subjectively speaking, it seems to perform pretty much the same as DX8.1 did in actual games (some ppl have even reported enhanced/smoother gameplay, even though their scores went down as well..)

Oh well, at least it seems stable.
