HI.

I downloaded the new version of fs2_open. The fs_open EXE works fine.
But when i use the Fred_2 one i get this following error.

Exits are on your left and right, flamethrowers are under your seats, plasma rifles are in the lockers to the front, and in case of emergency, your seat cushion can be used as food if a hungry Shivan finds you without any lunch.

The program isn't loading the graphics correctly.  Make sure your sparky_fs2.vp file isn't corrupted.

The game is looking for the file that I've attached.  If messing with the vp doesn't work, put it in the data\effects folder.

I downloaded the file, and placed it im my effects folder (hope that the correct place) but same thing happens  Dont think my VP corrupted, fresh install.

This has happened to me with the regular .exe also. But putting the file into my effects folder usually worked. If not, put it in the main fs2 directory. Anything in the main fs2 directory (tables, models, etc.) overides anything in the data folder. Anything in the data folder overides anything in the category (Effects, HUD, Tables, etc.)

I've er.. fixed the problem... i didnt put the Fred_2 exe in the main freespace directory.. thought i had.. shame on me for not doing things right.
