C&C: Renegade - it seems to be a FS2-type game: didn't sell very well, but it's as fun as heck to play.
SERIOUSLY...! | {The Sandvich Bar} - Rhino-FS2 Tutorial | CapShip Turret Upgrade | The Complete FS2 Ship List | System Background Package

"...The quintessential quality of our age is that of dreams coming true. Just think of it. For centuries we have dreamt of flying; recently we made that come true: we have always hankered for speed; now we have speeds greater than we can stand: we wanted to speak to far parts of the Earth; we can: we wanted to explore the sea bottom; we have: and so  on, and so on: and, too, we wanted the power to smash our enemies utterly; we have it. If we had truly wanted peace, we should have had that as well. But true peace has never been one of the genuine dreams - we have got little further than preaching against war in order to appease our consciences. The truly wishful dreams, the many-minded dreams are now irresistible - they become facts." - 'The Outward Urge' by John Wyndham

"The very essence of tolerance rests on the fact that we have to be intolerant of intolerance. Stretching right back to Kant, through the Frankfurt School and up to today, liberalism means that we can do anything we like as long as we don't hurt others. This means that if we are tolerant of others' intolerance - especially when that intolerance is a call for genocide - then all we are doing is allowing that intolerance to flourish, and allowing the violence that will spring from that intolerance to continue unabated." - Bren Carlill

You're weird!

...So you managed to download the demo? I was afraid it wouldn't work... I tried to download it (just to check the server) and it kept freezing after 0.9mbs.

Actually, I had the same problem too; after trying it two or three times I gave up on that link. A couple of Google searches revealed nothing useful either. I eventually ended up downloading the full version from HOTU, as that was the only link that worked correctly. It took a full night, since their servers are extremely slow and the file was a good 243mb, but it was well worth it. If I continue to like the game I will probably buy it since it must be pretty cheap by now, but I cannot recall seeing it anywhere.

The story is a little confusing though; I thought everyone on the Von Braun is supposed to be dead for whatever reason, but then why is this Polito giving you orders? And who are those hybrid guys? (they are pretty funny though; walking around like zombies and mumbling some nonsense about ending harmony and whatnot, until they get smashed by a guy with a wrench :D)

The game has a lot in common with Deus Ex by the way (which is a very, very good thing in my book :D); are the two made by the same people or something? Some things are better executed in SS2 and other things are superior in DX, but overall the gameplay systems are quite similar. Also, one thing I really like about this game is the limited quantities of ammo, since here's what happens to me in most FPS games: there is so much ammo that I end up using only weapons for which there is extra ammo lying around and I cannot carry due to already having a full load, and whenever I find some really good weapon, I keep saving it for later, intending to use it on some harder guy, only to finish the game with a full load. :p

Does that version have cutscenes? Don't continue without cutscenes!

Oh, and do buy the game if you like it. One of the companies who created it is still alive, and a Shock 3 is still possible.

You can't expect me to answer those questions, right? Find out yourself!
And we call the guy with the wrench Goggles. :D

Well, Warren Spector (producer of Deus Ex) did work on Shock 1, but not on Shock 2. And just for the record, Shock 2 was released before Deus Ex. :)

Deus Ex definitely has better graphics, while I'd say Shock 2 sounds are superior (the way sound propagates is just awesome). Can't say much more, still have got to play through Deus Ex.

Don't forget BF1942. That's the best FPS of the year and quite an experience, IMHO (after buying pretty much everything else on j00r list)

Oh no, wait. I derailed the discussion.

Okay, you can continue.

Neverwinter Nights is the only game I play that came out this year,  but it is quite good. Nice multiplayer, the editor allows people to make new campaigns, main campaign sucked a bit though.

Either that or he's an alien. Knowing him like we do, we can't eliminate any of the possibilities.
