I have recently compiled and ran two version of fs2_open. One version was dated (checkout using wincvs) Jan 1, 2003. I also compiled and ran another version dated Jan 6, 2003.

The first one ran perfectly well with no crashes. The second one however still crashed. This means the problem doesn't lie in bmpman.cpp (as rolling back didn't make a differene).

The problem is now almost contained. The crash is from something that was added between Jan 1 and Jan 6.

Some people, such as Goober5000 have also confirmed the problem. Is there anyone else getting the same problem?

I was getting the crashes...I am currently not getting the crashes in the version distrubted to me last night.  I'll conduct some more testing to be sure.

We might be talking about two different things.

AFAIK,

--Dkharrat's crash is when you make a new pilot and start a campaign.

--IceFire's crash is a random QTD in the middle of a mission.

I think with the new build IceFire's crash is fixed.

Bleah.  Dkharrat, update your project and try again.  I just ran a fully up-to-date version and it worked fine -- no errors at all, no crashes.

Should we restore bmpman.cpp?

I'll update as well, Icould reproduce thatcrash as early as this morning...
