I tried that, I think it's because it's looking for an avatar field.  Notice there's no gap in mine.

Ah, but you may not know, multi-avatars are stuck in the user title section, not the true avatar section.  That's why when people changed their titles, they lose avatars.

I'd care about the new layout, but at the moment my efforts can be more usefully directed elsewhere, and at any rate I couldn't care much. Judging from the outraged posts here, a little change might be handy.

IIRC there are charachter length restrictions on them... but not on user titles - which allows for the HTML code to post so many images up.

Because you can't have more than one assigned avatar in the avatar field.
