Having carpet in your bathroom
OK, so what are people's opinions about having carpet in the bathroom. A lot of people seem to think that it is sinful, but I disagree. I have a carpet in the bathroom, I mean, you want warm feet when you get out of the bath, right?

I believe it is predomininantly a Northern Britain thing, though I could be wrong.

nothing wrong with it, so long as you dont mind mold growing on it when it gets wet...

And so long as it isn't a public bathroom. I don't even want to THINK of an absorbent surface in one of those...

Sinful?  I think it's a bit silly - tile is far better - but what does sin have to do with it?

not a carpet on the whole floor, but a small one to keep your feet warm.

Because tile is waterproof?  And when you get out of the shower, you're generally wet?

Carpet can stay wet for days...
trust me...
Person in the apartment above mine had a "little" flood..
It was raining in one part of mine.....
Had someone come and clean most of it up with one of those huge carpet cleaning things, but it was still wet for two days afterwards....

ok, at my home: I have a carpet, when I go out of the showe, that way, I won't play wipeout in real time coz my feet are wet, and I don't like walking on cold tiles. Ok, after, it's wet. Oh! End of the world I tell you!!! of course it might occur to you all that you can hang a carpet so it can dry?
geez. And I thought I was reflecting over silly problems.
what will be the next question?

My brothers flat had a carpet in the toilet when he bought it.  When we pulled it up, the plywood flooring underneath had large pish stains.  At least with tiles, you know when someones been pissing on the floor........

what we've got in two of the three bathrooms (and i've only heard about this in America) is this platic looking stuff, made to look like tiles, but it's actually completely smooth, and looks like tile.  it's kind of like a plastic wallpaper, that goes on the floor... very effective

The intelligent solution, is to have tiles, but place a rug over them, to stand on. Course, oddly, the floor is never my main concern in regards to difference of heat when leaving the bath. Usually the surrounding air, but seeing as my house is heated, i,ve not considered the coldness.

I have a small rug by the bathtub so when I get out, but I try to dry myself off as much as I can before I exit the tub.   that way the rug doesn't stay that wet and I don't have to worry about it molding.  I make sure to keep the rug away from the toilet, though.  I have a very old uncle who likes to miss.... ruined a perfectly good rug that way :sigh:

3 Bath rooms is usually considered a lot, especially if you don't have an overly large family.
