I am working on a mission, and I'm trying to get a directive that says "Return to Base." I got that, but it appears right at the beginning of the mission. I looked at the first mission in the main freespace campaign and it says "has departed delay- Alpha 1." So I tried that and it still appeared at the beginning of the mission. I tried several other things, but it still appears at the beginning of the mission. What do I do?

set up an event, detecting the FINAL thing you want to happen in the mission and set it directly before the return-to-base directive. Then click on the RTB directive, and click the "chain(ed)" check box.

Make the RTB directive chained right after the event you want to trigger. Then, as soon as that's done, the chained event will happen.
