I was considering that, due to the rise of Fanfics in the forums (namely mine and that Mercenary FF far back) HLP should have a separate forum for Fanfics only.

Primary reason: With all the other threads (mainly spam anyway :doubt: ), all of the FFs die of existence faster than you can say "Dive! Dive! Dive!"

Well.... guess that's the only reason.

Any admins, please consider.
Spoon - I stand in awe by your flawless fredding. Truely, never before have I witnessed such magnificant display of beamz.
Axem -  I don't know what I'll do with my life now. Maybe I'll become a Nun, or take up Macrame. But where ever I go... I will remember you!
Axem - Sorry to post again when I said I was leaving for good, but something was nagging me. I don't want to say it in a way that shames the campaign but I think we can all agree it is actually.. incomplete. It is missing... Voice Acting.
Quanto - I for one would love to lend my beautiful singing voice into this wholesome project.
Nuclear1 - I want a duet.
AndrewofDoom - Make it a trio!

Well I admit, I hardly ever take or want to take the time to read all of it, especially if its some weird borg gainst' vasudan story, but it does carry on the community for those who care and some of it can actually be quite good.

but for the borg stuff.. I might as well go play with some legos while watching First Contact :p

EDIT: Stuff like the comics or UT's HLP stories.. those were worth it. Pointless as any fanfic (which can then be argued against campaigns and so on) but its funny as hell and entertaining. That's why most of us are here anyways, right?

EDIT to Anaz: Some people are too dumb ;) :p

I second Anal Amazon's statement. You wanna write fiction, make it part of a greater whole. For one thing, I'd rather not see any Han Solo- Petrarch slash fiction without some explosions to go with it, and for another, I've seen the fanfic here, and I've read the campaign synapses- none of us here are Shakespeare or even Gibson. Hell, damn few of us are even on Danielle Steel's level.:D

And it's not that hard to stick a little art on anyway, or something. ****, half of what I've been doing since I came here was pushing my own little fiction/art package, and I've gotten decently good at both.

Well from all this sudden demand of fan fics, i've yet to see anymore than 2 or 3.. hardly enough to warrant a whole forum.

EDIT: How about shel Silverstein? :p

Nah. Though maybe whoever's the scriptwriter for the Borg.

Stone Chinson looked at the SuperMegaHyperLaserThonAMatic critically. "Wow. It is a big laser"
"It sure is." Said Hoochie Buxom C-9.
Chinson turned, and walked down the main hallway"I am going to walk down the main hallway. Maybe we will use this big laser later in the plot."
Hoochie Buxom agreed. "I agree" were her exact words. "Now, let us have a nice warm cup of hypersonic space tea, and reminisce over the recent past in a long sting of incoherent explication, involving over 2,000 names, most of which will never be mentioned again after our reminiscince is complete."

No offense, but this is exactly what the stuff I've seen looks like- and that extends to about half of the Node Wars stuff. Except that few people would use "critically" except when describing a direct hit from an ion beam. And I cut out the long incoherent explication and just had one of the robotic characters talk about it to save time and my hands from carpal tunnel syndrome.

Hey! That's it! Go to Node Wars! I assume it's still open...

It'll be back up in a day or two.. currently suffering hibernating admins. Grrr....
Science alone of all the subjects contains within itself the lesson of the danger of belief in the infallibility of the greatest teachers in the preceding generation . . .Learn from science that you must doubt the experts. As a matter of fact, I can also define science another way: Science is the belief in the ignorance of experts. - Richard Feynman

yeah, after all it does not necessarily have to be render art; fan fiction also qualifies as art.

hmm, maybe I should post my math proofs over there... ;7

More like

The ominous laser protruded from the vessels bow, casting shadows upon the fighters escorting the ponderous Dreadnought. Jason Nyria felt somewhat overwhelmed by its size as he inspected its metallic surface which was peppered with sensors and other vital equipment. As he spoke to Marcus about the object currently held in his view, his voice was filled with awe and a hint of fear, he fully understood the power contained within and the horrible effects of its use.

Before the conversation could be finished however, the ship shook and rolled, as if it were a sailing ship, caught up in a terrible storm, the force of the impact collapsed the shields in a instant, such a furious attack it seemed would not be content with expending its strength upon the shields and the sound of metal being ruptered and splintered soon filled the vessel.

Superheated shards of radioactive metal flew like comets nearing the sun, embedding themselves into a nearby bulkhead, as terrified crewmembers struggled to escape the embrace of vacuum.

Nah, melodrama's a step or two up from the average here. Most of the fanfic can't convey emotion at all it seems, much less overwrought emotion. The Node War stuff was an exception (lots of high drama there, you'd wonder how the characters didn't die of a heart attack or something)- most of the stuff I've seen here is basically of the mechanical sort.

"...The quintessential quality of our age is that of dreams coming true. Just think of it. For centuries we have dreamt of flying; recently we made that come true: we have always hankered for speed; now we have speeds greater than we can stand: we wanted to speak to far parts of the Earth; we can: we wanted to explore the sea bottom; we have: and so  on, and so on: and, too, we wanted the power to smash our enemies utterly; we have it. If we had truly wanted peace, we should have had that as well. But true peace has never been one of the genuine dreams - we have got little further than preaching against war in order to appease our consciences. The truly wishful dreams, the many-minded dreams are now irresistible - they become facts." - 'The Outward Urge' by John Wyndham

"The very essence of tolerance rests on the fact that we have to be intolerant of intolerance. Stretching right back to Kant, through the Frankfurt School and up to today, liberalism means that we can do anything we like as long as we don't hurt others. This means that if we are tolerant of others' intolerance - especially when that intolerance is a call for genocide - then all we are doing is allowing that intolerance to flourish, and allowing the violence that will spring from that intolerance to continue unabated." - Bren Carlill
