Well, seeing as everyone's doing it these days:

Not too much criticism, please. It took me a day and a half to persuade trueSpace to like me.......*pets Lightwave threatiningly* and it's still not converting properly.....

  • I'm a magic man, I've got magic hands.
Forward part looks a little two angled to be Terran, but otherwise it's sweet.

Like it!

Standard freighter design, is it not? With bridge forr'ard, large cargo modules, and engine modules/nacelles right aft.

Looks like the Fed freighters in StarFleet command.

Works for me :)

Texes need some work, but I guess you know that already. Not sure about the pointy fins, makes it look a little to sleek. What you're looking for is 'lumbering'... try removing the fins and using the resulting freed polys to add detail to engine nacelles

Apart from that, she's a good'n. Good effort, KF.

Work on the UV reps for those lights textures up front, too.

Me likes!

One thing: make it fatter - the crew compartment and the engine section look a bit weird. Make them biggar so there's no gap between them and the cargo pods - they should be right up close to each other.:)

Point 1: Thanks for the positive comments. I can't UV map so I have to make do with trueSpace's dodgy efforts......

Point 2: It IS Terran, but NOT FS2 Terran.........if that makes sense. It's a civilian ship for the Swarm War.

Point 3: I'm quite pleased with how she's turned out. The pic doesn't tell you how BIG she is! :D She's BIGGER than a Deimos!

And yes, I was inspired by the Fed freighters! I like the style. :)

Lastly - the fins are STAYING!!:p Mainly because I hate having a 'flat bottom' if you get my meaning. She needed something down there!

Well if the ship ever lands on a planet it will need "Atmospheric manouvering vanes", and that is what they are. Or comm. antennas.

That'll do! :D

But she is 700m+ in length, so landing may be.........'difficult!' :D

Not necessarily. Some very large ships can land in SW, and Voyager can land.

That is bigger than the Enterprise-E, so landing would be a tadd tricky....

BTW, does anyone know how long Voyger(sp?) was, cause she was able to land on planets.  Did quite a few times as well.....

Oh, oh, I've derailed the thread..........:nervous:

Actually, I derailed it wth talk of voyager. AFAIK it was about 150-250 metres.

Very nice freighter.  Got that pre-great war thing going on.  I like the length, finally an uber freighter that we can transport colossus parts on (oo... idea ;7 )  I'm assuming we're talking star trek voyager, and it was small, not anywhere near as big as the enterprise.  Now get this thread back on track. :mad2: KF, you will never learn anything if you do not get harsh criticism.  So hide inside your shell and wait for people to come rip it up.

Fins on ships look cool.

in the words of robin williams:
and at airport security they're searching 5 year old boys and they're saying "what are you doing?, you're not a priest., let go of me."

Well, I'm sure you too would love to have your design ripped up after spending OVER A DAY trying to get it right whilst suffering numerous TS crashes as well as other major glitches. And she's STILL not functioning right.

Voyager IIRC was 321 - 329 meters long. Although I can't back that up untill I get home

Oh, much larger than I thought.

Looking for an excuse for pointy things TM?

well apart from the coms ariels idea you also have heat sink radiator fins. Any big ship is going to need somewhere to dissapate extra heat from.

Here we are

The U.S.S.Voyager is an Intrepid-Class starship,and it has 15 decks,consisting of 344 meters long,130 meters wide,and 66 meters tall.We need a crew..all we've got is a Captain,a Strategic Operations officer,we need more crew.

Nope, Star Trek are rather small actually, especially to FS standards. The Sovereign class is only 744 meters long. Enterprise (nx-01) is 265 meters I think.

I think we've established that she's pretty big for a freighter! :D
