I've been going over my old renders, and found this one, that looks quite good after a bit of updating:

Quite nice stu, but what's with the impact looking swirl next to the beam?

That should be lens flare's manual secondary. I usually turn it off though, when making beamglows.

looks a bit too bright, I think engine glows and beams would be darker in a nebula.

good nebula, but the Cain/Lilith could do with some nice red shivan glow, and some weapons fire maybe.

Its a blue nebula. The red may not be that evident, perharps?
