You should see the original Japanise film of it. That's scary. Well, what I saw of it anyhow ;) . I even sat though the second one two. Also didn't see all of it ;) . I found them scary.

Must dash, there's a long hair woman clambering out of my TV. (If you haven't seen the film, don't ask.)

Been to cinema to see the amer version and my friends were really "thoughtfull" that they got for us the best seats. Front row center with the speakers only 3 meters from us. Remember the awefull sounds and all...just immagine.

No really but what is irronic about it is that it is a GIRL walking out of the TV crawling and just looking at you and you uuurgh..Must...think...happy....thoughts

Because she is just too young to kill. I kinda expected her to be much older. By the way, who would suspect a little girl comming out of TV and killing people? At least they can't see her face.

Funny thing is, they translated The Ring's title into Hebrew as "Ha Tziltzul" (The Ring)", but they used the word for a telephone or bell ring, not a circular, ring-of-power ring. :p

"...The quintessential quality of our age is that of dreams coming true. Just think of it. For centuries we have dreamt of flying; recently we made that come true: we have always hankered for speed; now we have speeds greater than we can stand: we wanted to speak to far parts of the Earth; we can: we wanted to explore the sea bottom; we have: and so  on, and so on: and, too, we wanted the power to smash our enemies utterly; we have it. If we had truly wanted peace, we should have had that as well. But true peace has never been one of the genuine dreams - we have got little further than preaching against war in order to appease our consciences. The truly wishful dreams, the many-minded dreams are now irresistible - they become facts." - 'The Outward Urge' by John Wyndham

"The very essence of tolerance rests on the fact that we have to be intolerant of intolerance. Stretching right back to Kant, through the Frankfurt School and up to today, liberalism means that we can do anything we like as long as we don't hurt others. This means that if we are tolerant of others' intolerance - especially when that intolerance is a call for genocide - then all we are doing is allowing that intolerance to flourish, and allowing the violence that will spring from that intolerance to continue unabated." - Bren Carlill

That's not even remotely ironic. It is exceptionally disconcerting though, which is kind of the point.

But what Japanese word was it translated from? "Ring" has a double meaning in English that makes sense (for this movie) either way you interpret it.

No idea, and I've never seen the movie, so I wouldn't know. All I've seen is the circular ring on the poster.
