Global Power (The Game)
Has anyone played the game (demo, as yet), Global Power? It is an insanely detailed present-day global strategy game, where you control a country's military, economic and social features in order to achieve domination.

It also makes a great hypothetical simulator. For instance, I was Briatin, I nuked France, and was immediately attacked by all of NATO! I was wiped out, surprisingly enough.

Couldn't you nuke a few more other country's? thus you have more chance to survive a NATO attack:)

I dont know where to download it, as it was on the PCGamer discs. I can't find a link at the moment, as I am at school, and all game related things are blocked.

It won't be too big to download, either, as it is not very graphical.
However, the demo is limited to four countries, UK, Brazil, Niger and Mexico. You can nuke any city or military base in the world. I tried nuking NewYork, but then the US sent nukes to me, Frnace nuked the US, russia nuked France, and soon the whole world was in nuclear war.

Ahh, it turns out that the demo is 126meg, and can be found here

the game has been released once under the name 'Superpower' (iirc). It was so realistic that they forgot to include supply-lines, transport of troops and general logistics. You could basically invade a country on the other side of the world without too much brouhaha.
a bit silly no?

I wonder if they have adressed these important but blatantly ignored aspects of warfare.
It came from outer space! What? Dunno, but it's going back on the next flight!

By the way, you should have known better than to nuke a member of the GTVA uhh....ehh I mean UN Security Council.

Shush.:D
This game simply proves that high powered graphics are not necessary, take Uplink for example.

yeah, but for a game claiming to be a realistic war-simulation on the grand strategy level this is a rather huge omission
