Well, it's a start.

I
highly suggest doing the following for the next week or so, dependng on how often you surf the web:
- Every time you run across a website that you find visually pleasing, bookmark it and/or take a screenshot. Think about and write down exactly what about that site's design you liked - colors, layout, overall theme?
- Do the same with websites you specifically
don't like visually - too much crap in one area, too many flashing things, etc.
- Make sure to sum up points for both sides, pros and cons, in relatively general terms. Don't write "The purple background clashed with the light yellow and green text". Instead, write "Color clash between page elements"... that kind of thing.
- Go over all your points once in a while. Once you see a number of points being repeated, you've written down enough. Make note of those repeated points, and do or don't do them.
