Does anyone know where I can find the jumper settings for a Compaq 7462?

I know for a fact that it is using an Via Apollo MVP4 chipset, and there's a sticker that says camaro on it.

I'm trying to upgrade the memory to from 192MB to 384MB and it just won't work. When I boot it with just the 256 stick in, the computer locks up when it hits 128MB OK during the memory check. If I start it with the 128 stick in it counts all the way to 384MB and then goes back to 128 and display a "203-Memory Address Error", but it continues to boot all the way into Windows. It even reports that I have 384MB installed under system properties. But as soon as I do something complex that tries to go into the new memory, the computer crashes. This is the second memory stick that I have tried, and since the odds of two sticks being bad are so low, I think it's my computer. Compaq Tech Support has assured me that the computer will hold 512MB of RAM. Via's site says that the MVP4 will hold 768.

BTW, if it makes a difference, the memory bus speed is 100mhz, and the RAM speed is PC-133.

Any help would be appreciated.

Its possible that the machine cannot clock the speed from 133 back to the system bus of 100mhz.  Newer machines can do this but its possible that Compaq either skimped on the details and didn't add this feature or that it was not available to them in a laptop formfactor.

According to what I just read, it has to be sycnronous and it has to be 100mhz RAM and not 133mhz RAM.

That is most likely your problem and the symptoms you describe are consistant.

I found this after I posted.

Like I said, I'm upgrading to 384MB which requires a 256MB stick and a 128MB stick.  The 128 stick, which I've had and been using for over a year, is PC-133.  The only other thing I can think of is this:
I've been using the Compaq 64MB PC-100 stick that came with the computer in combination with the 128MB stick.  I guess it was forcing the 128 stick cycle down, and now that both sticks are PC-133, it's not.  The thing is, the Mobo is supposed to do that anyway.
