Why didn't they tell us?
This is going to blow your mind. I'm going to assume that you've read at least the first post in my "Compaq" thread.

Turns out that PC-133 RAM, in fact no RAM, no longer slows down to the bus speed. I don't mind this change as there's not any performance gain or loss.

What kills me is the fact that only select manufacturers and vendors were informed.

Why, didn't they tell us they were going to take away our compatibility?
So as through a glass, and darkly
The age long strife I see
Where I fought in many guises,
Many names, but always me.

There are only 10 types of people in the world , those that understand binary and those that don't.

Why didn't they tell us?
IIRC, it will if you get the el-cheapo stuff and try to mix it with the good RAM.  It might have something to do with the CAS timings.  Some RAM can handle being pushed to 2T-2T-2T while some can only handle 3T-3T-3T.
Gargoyles, Season 1.  Buy it, or DIE! :)
