lol
sorry but I keep telling people "yeah, I mihgt help you" but finally I don't/can't. Had to resign from the SC conversion already, can't join something else.
And to be honest I think I'll turn to FL in a very close future ( well, when the game is out in France and I've completed it:
I can make the ships in 3dsmax, convert them to 3ds, open this file in milkshape where I'll place gunpoints and stuff, and convert them directly to the game. Nothing like all the hassle to make a pof with truespace and **** ).

The only thing I would add to it is that it is not the BH which emits X rays but the matter falling into it:

That's actually quite a nice site. I`ve sent in a couple of more advnanced questions when I`ve had problems and they've generally sent back an answer within a couple of days.

As for the short lecture it's better to correct a few misconceptions quickly before this ends up like the "No G-Forces in space" thread :D

You people are aware that if one were in the "system" of a black hole, one wouldn't see the accretion disk, aren't you?  One would be in it.   If one wants to simulate this properly, one needs a black spot in the sky about the same diamater as the usual sun would be, and nebulae all around, not an outside shot looking in at the accretion disk.

Unless of course you are above the plane of the system. In which case you should be able to look down and see the whole thing :)

Hollywood spruces them up a bit.. However you would see the disk IF it ws in the process of eating another stellar body (ie close by planet or gases, ect...) at least until it reached the event horizon.

I guess, but in that case the image had better fill up fully half the sky, and have some good perspective rendering in it.
