As in what, not accepting messages from people not on my contact list? Nope. I actually don't get all that much ICQ spam, to be honest. Maybe one a month. And I use Trillian, dunno what anti-spam stuff it has.

Then sorry to pick holes, but why are you complaining about spam if you 1) Don't have protection measures in place and 2)don't get much anyway :confused:

Just tick following options in your ICQ settings:
-Accept messages only from users on my contact list
-Do not accept multi-recipient messages from non-contacts
-Do not accept WWPager messages
-Do not accept EmailExpress messages

Setting names may vary depending on what ICQ version or  Trillian you're using.

I have not received any spam-messages for a year or so.

If people who want to contact you are not in your contact list, they can simply request authorization to put you in their contact list. Simple, effective and spam-free.

Just figured we could give on of 'em a taste of their own medicine. :)

And Mr. Fury, thanks for the tips. I already have "Do not accept multi-recipient messages from non-contacts" checked. Don't know why the others weren't.

I haven't gotten a single spam message since I started using Miranda ICQ exclusively.

Still, the last time I got a spam message (which was over a year ago) the poor idiot got his ass handed to him. :D  I'm not going into great detail on what I did, but lets just say that he had....internet issues for a while. ;)

:confused:... in less than 48 hours, no less than three women (or people claiming to be) have started ICQ conversations with me - always when I'm away from my comp for some reason. Did I suddenly become both famous and attractive to the fairer sex over the weekend without noticing?

Its a slight bit harder to use but the gains I find are much more pleasing.  Less crap, no ads, less unimportant features, low memory requirements not quite as rediculously easy to use but nearly.

And it can use MSN, AIM, Yahoo, and IRC all at the same time (theoretically!).

IceFire is correct. Trillian is little harder to get into, but once you know it inside out, it becomes a valuable tool for your all IM and IRC needs.

Standard (v0.74) and Pro (1.0 Pro) has different connection manager interfaces, if you're new to Trillian, choose wisely which one you want. Although Pro version is payware. But that hasn't stopped anyone before, has it? :rolleyes: Pro of course has more features than the standard version, the usual.
