I think I just killed my monitor. There's all this gray streaky **** everywhere to either side of anything dark, and all the text has a kinda glow around it, looks funky... I think I've seen this stuff before in a monitor, but I can't recall just where...

Of what, exactly? An ugly-ass screen with streaky ****? dip your hand in some ink and wipe it horizontally across the screen, you'll have a fair idea what I'm talking about. Only uglier, and varying with whatever's on the screen...

Nawp. Though before I tried I was willing to give even money that if I tried on the monitor end it would just come off in my hand.


At least the problem would be identified, then.

EDIT: Crap, I hit it again, and all the **** that's resting on top of it fell off. Some of it was sharp and metal. I think I'll stop hitting it now. Mommy...

Did you check that your vid card is working properly? Or did you d/l some funky fonts? That sometimes can be a problem, but I think your monitor is shot.  Do you have a burial fund set up for it?

Nope (broke), though I might have scored a slightly dented but still functional one, can't tell yet... See, there are advantages to all the messing around in other peoples' dumpsters. Why, just the other day I got a 4X CD burner for a Mac...

Okay, it was a piece of ****, but it was the biggest ****ing thing I've ever seen, and the resolution was something incredible. I guess I kinda got what I deserved, going for a Sylvania monitor when their lightbulbs hardly last a week...
