Turrets on the bottom of the ship are backwards, the base is reversed - I have never come across this before, wha tis it?

When I use docks apart from fighter docks FS2 crashes. Cargo docks and ship docks do this. They are there and work in FRED2. whats wrong?

Do paths for turrets have any extra things I have to remember?

I made some breifing icons (cargo ships) but in FRED and FS2 they are mangled up - how do you do brifeing icons - the weapon,cb, etc all work fine just these???

Well, its not exactly clear what your asking in your first question but I'll try.....er.....turrets are backwards on the bottom of ships because they are upside-down. Think of it as the turret being rotated 180 degrees from its usual orientation. (OK, I know that was probably no help)

As for docking point problems, I presume you are talking about docking points that you have made? Have you defined paths for the docking points?

Extra things for turret paths?
What have you got so far?
A turret path should have the corresponding turret sub-object as its parent, vertices, and a radius for each vertex.

As for your icon problems, well, no idea.

You did help - I know about turrets being backwards, didn't know why - is only way to fix them rotating them in modler?

I have defined a path for them and it shows in every program that shows it (err... FRED2 then), it docks together in FRED2 but if an event tries to dock them together - crash (like no dock existed).

I was just seeing if there was any other things to do for turret paths (I don't like wasting time). I have done fighter rearming docking points and they work in game. are the paths for turrets any diffrent than for docks etc

Icons seem to be reveres in seeing - you see the .ani limit box (that is normal transparent when you click on one) but the ships is all mangled up in the middle???

A lot of what I think I know about paths is deduced from looking at existing paths on Volition ships.
Turret paths are done in the same way as docking paths. I suppose the last point on a turret path doesn't need to be right up close to the ship, though.

What direction is the ventral turrets firing point normal? It should be x= 0 y= -1 z= 0. Is/are its gun barrel(s) pointing straight down?

The docking point problem has me stumped. My own cargo and ship docking points appear to work just fine. Actually, it would be easier if I could see the problems for myself (both for the 'upside down turret' and the 'dodgy docking point'). Could you email the problem pofs to me so I can take a look at whats happening? (email is in the profile)

(I bet some-one out there knows exactly what the problems are, and is having a really good laugh at my feeble attempts to help!)

Im sure its a really simple problem but I just can't see it, i'll praoblay send it (its has the turrets thing but I can rotate them before conversion to fix it, if thats the only fix).
